Catani Gardens, St Kilda
Carlo Catani arrived in Australia from Italy in 1876. In the early 1900’s Catani planned the foreshore works up to Point Ormond and also designed landscaping of the Gardens which came to be known as Catani Gardens. The gardens are beautiful, sitting alongside the beach, with palm trees lining the avenue. During the summer the area hosts a community event nearly every weekend. A tranquil, historic part of St Kilda, perfect for honouring in watercolour.
Note, this painting was deliberately created with no corrections, it includes water drip marks in the top right, which are intended.
